About Kat

Kat's photography and videos are produced out of a passion for fly fishing.

Kat began fly fishing over 20 years ago and feels that there is always something new to learn about it and always somewhere new to explore to push herself to refine her practice as an angler. Professionally, she is an Educator with a Doctorate in Educational Practice that enjoys spending as much time possible outside fishing.

Kat is typically accompanied by her dog Nora (Trout Scout) and she enjoys filming and photographing the adventures of fly fishing along the way. Kat's photos and videos of fly fishing have evolved over the years, taking in the experience of angling and catch and release principles to support fish health by filming underwater releases or fish held (as close to the water) as much as possible.

Kat documents her adventures fishing using a GoPro 11 Hero Black, Go Pro 9 Hero Black and an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Kat's photos and videos have been featured by social media accounts including Midcurrent, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism, Gibbs Fishing, Scotty Products, Tourism Tofino,

Cleanline SportFishing, Cowichan Valley Tourism, United Women on the Fly, Women of the River Collective, Keep Fish Wet, Freshwater Fisheries of British Columbia,

Hook and Vice, Outlaw Fishing Designs, and Watermaster.

Kat has been interviewed on several podcasts about her fly fishing journey and photos through the Deaddrifter's Society Podcast, the Fly Fishing Insider Podcast, and the Flyfishing97 Podcast. She has delivered online and in-person seminars on stillwater fly fishing techniques through United Women on the Fly Education Series. Kat has also written and published multiple blog posts for Silvercore Outdoors chronicling her fishing adventures with her father.

Kat has worked with FISHING BC filming in both Princeton and the Cariboo Regions to help promote Fishing Tourism in the province of British Columbia.

In more recent months, Kat's work has been shared in partnership with companies such as Redington, Mustang Survival, Silvercore Outdoors, and Lid Rig.

Kat enjoys being creative and sharing the beautiful aspects to the fly fishing life.

About Nora

Nora has been fly fishing since she was 3 years old.

With her 10th turn around the sun in August on the horizon, Nora's goals to continue to fish alongside her hoomum, @kathonthefly, is high on the list of Bulldog Trout Associate priorities.

While naturally photogenic, Nora's decorum around trout catch and release is <almost> impeccable. She is a versatile traveller and accomplished angler herself having flown by helicopter, by seaplane, travelled by car and taxied by traditional fishing boat charters, and smaller water craft.

Nora is ready for most fishing adventures if the temperatures outside are just right and the snacks are packed!
